Dear Resident
You are receiving this because you live in the vicinity of a burglary that occurred on Copley Springs Road on Saturday 15th August 22:30hrs and Saturday 15th 22:44hrs.
Incident Summary Four males, described as being dressed in black clothing, attended a residential property. The suspects initially attempted to force entry through the patio doors, causing damage, but were unsuccessful. They then gained access by forcing a kitchen window, smashing the glass and forcing the window lock. Once inside, the suspects carried out an untidy search of the upstairs rooms. A quantity of cash and Asian gold jewellery valued at around £700 were stolen. CCTV enquiries have identified a black Volkswagen Golf that was seen in the area and appeared to be observing the property several hours before the burglary. At this stage, no vehicle registration number (VRM) has been obtained. Investigations are ongoing to establish whether the vehicle is linked to the offenders.
Crime Prevention AdviceCan You Help?If you saw a black Volkswagen Golf acting suspiciously in the area, or have any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage that may assist enquiries, please report this to the police quoting the relevant incident reference number. Your information could prove vital in helping identify those responsible and prevent further offences in the community. Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
Firstly if you have CCTV or a doorbell camera please check it between times above to check if you had any activations.
Secondly if you have a door with a cylinder lock (composite or UPVC doors mainly) please check the lock.
Make sure you are satisfied with the rating and is fitted correctly. The locks we recommend have 3 stars written on the front (see image) and are TS007 or SS312 rated. Many firms offer these anti-snap locks. Whilst we do not wish to scare anyone, it is always good to review your own security, and report anything suspicious to the Police. Should you have any information about either burglary please contact us on 101. Thanks
